Customer also commits to continue i2 support for Demand Fulfillment and Supply Chain Planner
DALLAS --
November 9, 2004i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC: ITWO), a leading provider of closed-loop supply chain management solutions, today announced that VF Corporation (NYSE:VFC), a leader in branded apparel, has selected i2 Master Data Management (MDM) to create a common view of enterprise systems across its global business.
i2 MDM is developed on a service-based architecture and is designed to facilitate data management, data synchronization and data quality measurement across an enterprise. i2 MDM can work together with a customer’s existing infrastructure investments to synchronize data within various point systems as well as author product data and manage data quality across all systems. Companies using i2 MDM to leverage data services can ensure the data is initially cleansed as well as manage and maintain these assets in MDM moving forward.
VF is currently leveraging i2 Supply Chain Planner and i2 Demand Fulfillment to pursue its goal of sharing resources across the corporation worldwide. VF’s vision includes bringing its business units onto a common technology platform. The value and progress achieved by VF against its goals for the project has prompted VF to further its commitment to i2 through a renewed agreement for maintenance of these products.
“VF leverages hybrid technologies to make our business work. Leveraging ERP and best-of-breed systems together is part of the vision for our business and i2 has effectively contributed to that vision,” said Ellen Martin, vice president supply chain systems, VF Corporation. “i2 has proven to be an essential partner by providing the infrastructure and software necessary to handle a high volume of transactions, large planning model sizes and a substantial number of SKUs. Through the use of these i2 solutions we have been able to improve our service levels as well as our material and finished goods inventories and have made real-time order promising a reality for our business. i2 is contributing to our IT corporate vision and we look forward to future successes together.”
VF Corporation leverages i2 Supply Chain Planner as the foundation for its company-wide initiative to manage its production planning systems across the enterprise. The company reports that through the use of i2 solutions it has improved the quality of the planning process and the speed of the end-to-end run time of the planning process. Additionally, i2 Demand Fulfillment is being used by VF Corporation to match supply with demand and enable realistic and coordinated promises for deliveries. VF uses this solution to take requests and send replies to disparate order management systems to enable order promising in an available-to-promise working model.
VF reports that these solutions have enabled the company to model approximately 300,000 SKUs, manage hundreds of thousands of order promises daily, and process more than 600,000 transactions daily across several divisions. Automating the company’s available-to-promise system, and providing visibility to inventory across all distribution centers, are also benefits VF attributes to its use of i2 solutions.
“VF is setting the standard for other industry leaders and we feel that the model of incorporating disparate systems across the enterprise is a vision that many businesses could benefit from. Linking these systems together can increase business efficiencies and unlock the business process bottlenecks associated with hybrid IT environments,” said Pallab Chatterjee, president, solutions operations, i2. “Working together with leading consumer goods and retail companies around the world, we hope to further pursue this vision and bring the best practices of VF to other leading edge businesses.”
