August 6, 2004i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC:ITWO), a leading provider of closed-loop supply chain management solutions, i2 CIS, a marketer and reseller of supply chain management solutions from i2 Technologies, and Severstal, a leading integrated iron and steelworks company, today announced that Severstal has selected i2 solutions to assist with order book optimization and production planning. The selection of i2 marks the first time that Severstal has engaged an outside supplier for the realization of a large SCM project. Severstal previously met its supply chain needs with in-house solutions.
The first stage of the project will include the creation of a prototype of Severstal’s current supply chain. Severstal’s goal for the project is to use i2 solutions to create an optimized book order for its products, increasing order book profitability by 5-7 percent. Additional project goals include reducing the monthly planning cycle, and improving the accuracy of order promising to drive improved customer service levels.
According to Dmitry Goroshkov, Severstal’s sales director, the company plans to implement the software with a goal of using master planning to determine the correlation between the demand and production possibilities of Severstal. As a result, Severstal can then create a unified plan of production, sales and money flows based on the general methodology of planning and integrated information workflows.
