i2 PLANET SAN DIEGO --
April 29, 2004i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC: ITWO), a leading provider of closed-loop supply chain management solutions, today announced that Infineon, a leading innovator in the international semiconductor industry, has extended its partnership with i2 with the goal of increasing its level of supply chain efficiency. With this agreement, Infineon joins the i2 Supply Chain Leaders Program, an initiative that builds and supports strategic partnerships between i2 and the world’s leading companies in the area of supply chain innovation and efficiency.
The multi-year agreement offers Infineon access to all i2 products and services, allowing for continuous access to best-practice knowledge and capabilities from a world leader in supply chain management solutions.
"We believe that this agreement with i2 will further empower us to become agile and flexible in anticipating rapid changes in customer demand and rapidly responding to sudden changes in market conditions," said Mike Schmelmer,Vice President of IT Logistics & Supply Chain Management of Infineon Technologies. "We have the goal to become one of the largest semiconductor companies in the world by increasing our market share, showcasing our innovation and having one of the most efficient supply chains in the world enabling us to better meet customer demand. We believe our extended partnership with i2 will help us achieve that goal."
Infineon designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductors and complete system solutions targeted at selected industries. Its products serve applications in a wide variety of industries, including the wireless and wireline communications, automotive, industrial, computer, security and chip card markets. That diverse market coverage, combined with a broad portfolio consisting of memory, logic products, digital, mixed-signal and analog integrated circuits, or ICs, and discrete semiconductor products and system solutions, makes an efficient and streamlined supply chain essential to continued success.
Infineon has been an i2 customer since 1996, using i2 Supply Chain Management solutions with great success. Reported results with i2 to date include:
- Reduction of rolling forecast cycles (demand and capacity planning) company-wide from quarterly to monthly;
- Implementation of feedback processes from capacity planning back to marketing and demand planning, and
- A reduction of the company’s master planning cycle from one month to one week.
Now, through its partnership with i2, Infineon has the opportunity to garner additional process improvements with access to one of the industry’s broadest, most mature offerings of supply chain solutions ranging from demand fulfillment to strategic sourcing to hazardous materials management. This partnership can also allow Infineon to lower its total cost of ownership by using a single vendor for all of its supply chain needs, allowing for greater cooperation across business units and strategic partners in all divisions.
As a member of the Supply Chain Leaders Program, Infineon can tap into talent from the i2 Competency Center, located within the Solutions Center in Bangalore, India. Professionals in the Competency Center can offer Infineon quick response and the ability to tailor solutions to the company’s specific business needs through intimate knowledge of the industry’s best practices combined with Infineon’s overall strategic vision. Through its membership in the program, Infineon can work through the Competency Center to influence the development and commercial availability of innovative supply chain solutions.
"We are thrilled to continue our long-term relationship with Infineon as their strategic supply chain partner and help them achieve their vision of becoming one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies," said Sanjiv Sidhu, i2 chairman and chief executive officer. "Infineon’s visionary approach will enable them to use their supply chain as a competitive weapon by having complete visibility and collaboration across their enterprise with suppliers, customers and trading partners."
