Chicago, IL --
March 30, 2004i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC: ITWO), a leading provider of closed-loop supply chain management solutions, today announced that it is using the SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference-model) methodology to help customers achieve improved performance in mission-critical supply chain processes.
While designing i2 Performance Manager - Supply Chain Analytics, i2 examined the SCOR methodology and included the planning and corresponding validation metrics as part of i2’s solution. SCOR has also become a standard tool used in the business process analysis that i2 conducts as a part of the customer value realization measurements it performs for customers worldwide. The SCOR methodology is incorporated into the supply chain management toolkit that i2’s Business Optimization Services (BOS) consultants use to help customers identify and realize performance improvement opportunities in mission-critical internal and external supply chain processes.
SCOR has been developed and endorsed by the Supply Chain Council (SCC), an independent, not-for-profit corporation, as the cross-industry standard for supply chain management. It integrates the well-known concepts of business process reengineering, benchmarking and process measurement into a cross-functional framework and is based on five distinct management processes: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return. SCOR is used to describe, measure and evaluate supply chain configurations.
SCOR’s process reference model provides a language for communication among supply chain partners. i2 has previously used components of this best practices model with customers to offer a balanced horizontal and vertical view. This can allow for supply chain reconfiguration, representing many different approaches to a similar process, and the aggregation of a series of hierarchical process models.
"I'm excited that i2 Technologies is embracing the SCOR model" states, Larry Lapide, a noted supply chain thought leader and SCC board member. Lapide recently joined the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics. "With SCOR as the de facto supply chain process model standard, i2's customers can now gain greater benefits from the enhanced support when implementing SCOR model processes. In addition, as one of the leading supply chain software companies, i2's support for the model further reinforces SCOR as a standard."
i2 Active within Supply-Chain Council
Nearly 800 companies interested in advancing supply chain best practices and associated technologies are members of the SCC. i2’s commitment to SCOR and the SCC is demonstrated by the participation of Kelly Thomas, i2 senior vice president of industry marketing, Automotive Product Marketing, as an elected member of the SCORboard., The SCORboard, the governing body of the SCC, consists of professionals from all membership ranks, including practitioners, consultants, enabling technology vendors and educators.
“The SCC plays a crucial role in the standardization of a process reference model that can help make communication among supply chain partners more effective,” said i2’s Thomas. “We embrace this best practices model and support the work of the SCC by incorporating the SCOR model into our product development and customer value realization measurements. We intend to continue our active involvement as i2, and the SCC overall, strive to enhance and advance supply chain management practices around the world.”
