On Demand

i2 New-Generation solutions are designed to handle the complex use cases of distributed supply chains. It features patent-pending advances in application design, and includes all of the elements required to enable cross-enterprise supply chain processes.

i2 New-Generation solutions enable companies to capture, persist, and manage multi-enterprise information, as well as control processes by planning, executing and measuring in concert with your partners. Combined with your existing infrastructure, i2 solutions enable companies to manage shared processes with your trading partners, and deliver increased productivity, improved service levels, and higher inventory turns.

With the addition of i2 Multi-Enterprise Interactive (MEI), i2 continues to extend the offering of its On-Demand Software services. With i2 Multi-Enterprise Interactive, i2 provides data center services along with the hardware and software required to operate our MEI solution. This service can be tailored to each customer’s requirements and is backed by service-level agreements.

Application Hosting

i2 co-locates its servers at a tier-one data center operated by AT&T. The facilities provide multiple connections to the electrical grid as well as battery back-up and on-site generators—providing a high level of power reliability. We take that level of reliability into our server racks, providing dual power to every device under management. Multiple connections to the internet, on different backbones, ensures that i2 has fault-tolerant access to the internet. On-site personnel are available 24x7 to assist with routine and emergency issues that may arise.

In the data center, i2 maintains servers and the associated devices to operate the production systems in a secure, always-on configuration. Optionally i2 can provide staging and development hardware required to design and deploy customer programs. Every device in the i2 system is redundant.

Overlaying the physical data center is a series of infrastructure management services (IMS). These services include planning activities such as planning hardware/software upgrades and managing expansions. IMS also includes operating services such as data center monitoring, intrusion detection, security audits, backup, and virus protection services.

Transaction Management and Alerting

Transaction errors can occur in the very best technology solutions, whether the result of software malfunctions or end-user process mistakes. A purchase order change could be triggered with incomplete data or a service can attempt to send messages during a maintenance window. Ensuring that these transactions ultimately find their successful destination is crucial to keeping the business running properly. Proactive management of transactions to find discrepancies reduces reaction time to issues that can arise throughout the life of the solution implementation.

i2 Operations Monitoring and Management Services (OMMS) provide ongoing monitoring and management of physical hardware and electronic transactions flowing through MEI. The flexible technology architecture that i2 solutions are built on allow for configuration of custom transaction error processing alerts to be sent out externally. i2-hosted applications have an additional layer of network monitoring services that alert i2’s support teams of any detrimental activity on the hardware itself.

Using i2’s monitoring tools together with network monitoring services enables i2 and its customers to manage the operation of the application. These services also include working with third-party VANs, the customer’s trading partners, and the customer’s in-house IT department to ensure data integrity, system performance, and reliability.
