i2 PLANET 2006 – LAS VEGAS – --
May 10, 2006i2 Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITWO) today announced that Nestlé, the world’s largest food and beverage company, has selected i2 transportation and distribution management solutions to help optimize its North American transportation network.
Nestlé selected i2 based on the company’s proven solution scalability and ability to help Nestlé get to the next level of cost and service efficiency by optimizing its transportation operations. i2 and Nestlé plan to work together to implement the i2 solution with the goal of streamlining the entire transportation management lifecycle including shipment planning and optimization, automated tendering and confirmations, shipment monitoring and alerting, freight audit and payment. Nestlé will also be using the i2 solution to model its overall logistics network, and conduct what-if analysis to identify opportunities for continuous moves, backhauling, dynamic pool-point selection, etc. The implementation plan includes rolling out the i2 solution to multiple divisions, replacing the company’s existing systems to establish a common, standardized transportation management system in North America.
“We evaluated a number of competitive offerings, and the i2 solution was unmatched in scalability, functionality and flexibility – which are essential due to our rapidly changing and complex transportation network. Our business is growing and we needed to select a solution provider that could accommodate our current needs as well as our future plans for growth,” said Bob Pickerill director of Business Systems, Nestlé. “We plan to use the i2 solution to handle the varying needs of our multiple divisions, cross border movements and fully optimize our transportation network.”
i2’s supply chain solutions are designed to help businesses with industry challenges associated with achieving revenue increases and cost reduction while maximizing service levels. Mergers and acquisitions, continued transportation capacity shortages, increasingly complex global networks, international freight movements and synchronizing plans and execution are business challenges that can be addressed with the i2 solution. The end-to-end i2 transportation solution is designed to enable companies to design, procure, plan, execute, monitor and measure freight movements across multiple modes, borders and enterprises.
“Industry leaders like Nestlé recognize the value of elevating their supply chain operations and in particular transportation operations and how this impacts the bottom line. We have been fortunate in being able to successfully work with such industry leaders in helping streamline complex supply chain networks and making them sources of competitive advantage,” said Steve Estrada, i2 senior vice president of Consumer Industries. “We look forward to working closely with Nestlé in their endeavor to migrate to the next level of supply chain efficiency.”
