For retailers, assortment planning remains one of the most difficult functions to execute successfully. A strategic assortment plan must be converted into a good purchase and allocation plan. Getting the right size mix of product into stores is essential to profitability and customer satisfaction. A failure in this area — especially with the fringe sizes — can result in lost sales and under-servicing valued customers at one extreme, and steep markdowns at the other. Most critically, retailers face out-of-control picking costs at the distribution center if they cannot ship and handle only full, optimized cases.
During this web seminar, i2 and Columbus Consulting will discuss the importance of translating assortment plans generated at the style/color level down to the size level based on size profile algorithms. The speakers will explore the business processes that occur after the assortment plan is created: size buy and case pack optimization right through to the point of allocation. The discussion will also address costs, benefits, and how case pack optimization ties back into the initial strategic plan.
When: Wednesday, November 30, 2005, 11:00 am Eastern
Speakers:
Richard von Hirschberg, Senior Retail Process Consultant, Columbus Consulting
Ijaz Parpia, Director of i2 for Retail Development, i2
