With 48 department stores and a wide variety of product lines, House of Fraser found that managing its purchasing processes with manual and disparate methods was highly inefficient. Through its use of i2 Merchandise Planner, WE has been able to better manage its stock levels. This has resulted in lower end stock and a reduction in markdowns. “We have reduced stock by 20 percent and markdowns by 5 to 10 percent,” Brand said. During the recession in Europe, when other retailers suffered and the market declined by 8 percent, WE was able to increase its margins and sales levels. “This success was in part due to i2 Merchandise Planner because it provided the buyers with the insight to reduce budget figures and stock in time,” Brand said.
